My sister got something in the mail called Talisman. What is a Talisman?

My sister got strange envelope from a medium and with the mail there came a Talisman. It's square. Has a circle kind of thing in the front and in the back has an astrological signs and it says "Aurora" on it. It's so weird. Would any one have a clue to what it is?
